Euphorbia Umbellata (Pencil Cactus / Milk Bush)

Euphorbia umbellata, related to the popular Pencil Cactus (Euphorbia tirucalli), is a striking, bold succulent shrub or small tree with an upright, architectural structure of pencil-thin, cylindrical green branches arranged in dense, candelabra-like clusters. It has a commanding, sculptural presence in the landscape and is extraordinarily drought-tolerant, thriving in hot, arid conditions with minimal water. Its stark, minimalist architectural form makes it a favourite in modern, succulent, and xeriscape garden designs. Note: the white milky sap is toxic and irritating — handle with care and protective gloves.
