Purple Heart (Tradescantia pallida) is one of the most reliable, vigorous, and striking ground covers available. It features trailing, fleshy stems and elongated, lance-shaped leaves in an intense, vibrant, royal purple hue that remains consistently bold year-round. It also produces delicate, three-petalled, pale pink flowers that contrast beautifully with the dark foliage. Extremely easy to grow, it thrives in both full sun (for deepest purple colour) and partial shade. It quickly forms dense, colourful mats, making it ideal for mass planting, cascading over walls, and large containers.
