Mombasa Grass (Panicum maximum)

Mombasa grass (Panicum maximum) is a tall, robust, tufted perennial grass primarily valued as a high-quality fodder and pasture crop for livestock. Its high leaf-to-stem ratio and crude protein content of 14–16% make it one of the most nutritious cut-and-carry forages available in Kenya. It thrives in warm, well-drained soils at altitudes up to 1,500 m, and is notably drought-tolerant once established.
