Moses in the Cradle (Tradescantia spathacea)

Moses in the Cradle, also known as Oyster Plant, is a bold, architectural, clump-forming ground cover prized for its striking, sword-shaped leaves that are deep green on top and vivid, rich purple underneath. It produces small white flowers cradled within distinctive boat-shaped purple bracts, giving the plant its common name. It grows vigorously to form dense, colourful, weed-suppressing colonies. Exceptionally tough and drought-tolerant once established, it is a magnificent, low-maintenance choice for tropical borders, rockeries, under-planting, and difficult dry spots.
