Maroon Phormium (New Zealand Flax)

Maroon Phormium (Phormium tenax 'Purpureum' or similar cultivar) is a richly coloured, architectural form of New Zealand Flax with dramatic, broad, upright, sword-shaped leaves in deep maroon-bronze to near-black tones. This intense, dark colouration creates a striking, moody contrast against lighter-coloured plants, white walls, or bright green lawns and is a prized element in contemporary and dramatic garden design schemes. Like all phormiums it is tough, drought-tolerant, and low-maintenance once established. An outstanding, bold statement plant for mixed borders, large containers, and modern garden designs.
