Elgon Teak (Olea welwitschii), also known as East African Olive or Elgon Olive, is a highly valued timber tree indigenous to the montane forests of East Africa, including Mount Elgon and the Aberdares. It produces an extraordinarily dense, hard, and beautifully grained yellowish-brown timber — one of the heaviest and most durable in Africa, prized for fine furniture, flooring, and structural work. As a landscape tree, it develops into a large, imposing specimen with attractive dark-green foliage. An excellent choice for both conservation planting and premium estate landscaping.
