Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii)

Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) is a remarkable, extremely drought-tolerant succulent shrub with thick, spiny stems and small, bright-green leaves. It earns its striking common name from its association with biblical history, but it is celebrated in horticulture for its remarkable ability to flower almost continuously throughout the year in vivid shades of red, pink, yellow, and white — even in harsh, dry conditions where other plants fail. It is highly resistant to neglect and thrives in hot, sunny spots. An excellent, long-lived ornamental for rock gardens, dry borders, and drought-tolerant container displays.
