Blue Water Lily

The Blue Water Lily (Nymphaea caerulea), also known as the Blue Lotus or Sacred Blue Lily of the Nile, is a strikingly beautiful aquatic plant native to tropical Africa including Kenya. It produces large, fragrant, star-shaped flowers in shades of pale sky-blue to soft violet with a contrasting golden-yellow centre, and broad, nearly circular floating leaves. The flowers open by day and close at night, making them a living spectacle in any garden pond or water feature. An iconic plant with ancient cultural significance, it thrives in warm, still or slow-moving shallow water in full sun and is perfect for ornamental ponds, koi ponds, and water gardens.
